About Blue Onion
We started Blue Onion because ecommerce finance teams deserve better than duct-taped reconciliation.
Your order systems like Shopify say one thing. Stripe or your or your payment processors say another. The bank tells a third story.
We felt this pain, so we built the solution.

Our Commitment
We’ve seen what happens when finance teams have the right foundation. They move faster, make better decisions, and become true partners in driving growth.
Blue Onion exists to make that possible.

Backed by Investors Who Understand Fintech
In April 2025, we closed a $10M Series A led by Viola FinTech with participation from Y Combinator, Entrée Capital, Green Visor, and Vinyl Capital.
We’ve since used this funding to expand integrations, grow our team of technical accounting experts, and advance the AI-driven automation that makes your financial data reliable, no matter when you look at it.
Where Finance is Heading
AI is reshaping every function in the enterprise. But for finance teams, AI is only as good as the data underneath it.
If your revenue data lives in five systems that don’t agree with each other, no model or automation layer can fix that.
Blue Onion is the financial data infrastructure. We reconcile and validate every transaction at the source so your ERP, your reports, and your AI tools all start from one version of the truth.
Our Story
Lyndsey Bunting spent years leading finance teams at high-growth ecommerce companies, including VP of Finance at Birchbox and CFO at Resonance Companies.
Every month, the same painful cycle: pulling data from five systems that didn’t agree, reconciling in spreadsheets that were 90% accurate on a good day, and knowing the other 10% is where failed audits live.
In 2020, Lyndsey co-founded Blue Onion. She pitched YC and built the first version of the platform side by side.
Their validation: five complete strangers willing to sign a contract before a single line of code was in production.
From there, customer acquisition accelerated to the point that Blue Onion now serves 200+ ecommerce companies.
