New York, NY, July 17, 2025 – Blue Onion, the finance data platform helping finance teams automate reconciliation and close with confidence, today announced the appointment of Alec Carper as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). With deep experience in building and scaling SaaS infrastructure and integrating AI into mission-critical platforms, Carper will lead Blue Onion’s technical teams into their next phase of growth.

Carper brings a strong track record of technical innovation, operational excellence, and growing teams from early-stage startups to billion-dollar exits. He was an early employee at TaxJar, where he scaled engineering, security, and infrastructure teams and built first-to-market products that helped define the standard for E-commerce sales tax compliance. Following TaxJar’s $900 million acquisition by Stripe - reportedly valued between $800 and $900 million - Carper played a key role in integrating platforms, consolidating teams, and launching AI-powered tools such as the Stripe Sigma AI Assistant.

“I’ve spent my career solving painful problems for operators and finance teams,” said Alec Carper, CTO of Blue Onion. What excited me about Blue Onion is the power of its clean data foundation and what that unlocks. With the right infrastructure and user experience, we can build a  platform that doesn’t just automate reconciliation, but proactively helps customers improve how they run their businesses.”

At Blue Onion, Carper will focus on scaling the company’s  reconciliation platform with focus on the user experience and building the infrastructure required for AI. He sees the current platform capabilities as a foundation for broader finance automation use cases, driven by a commitment to clean, structured data and operational efficiency.

Blue Onion also announced that Scott Galit, former CEO of Payoneer and a respected fintech leader, has joined as a strategic advisor. Galit brings decades of experience scaling global financial platforms and empowering small and medium-sized businesses through technology. As CEO, he led Payoneer through rapid international growth, a successful IPO, and built it into a trusted platform for SMBs navigating complex financial systems. At Blue Onion, he will advise on growth and go-to-market strategies.

“What drew me to Blue Onion is their mission to solve the critical but often overlooked pain points that finance teams face every day. Clean, automated data isn’t just a back-office improvement, it is a competitive advantage. I’m excited to support Lyndsey and the team that is building infrastructure with that kind of impact,” said Scott Galit, advisor to Blue Onion.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Alec to the Blue Onion leadership team as we enter our next phase of growth. With a proven track record of scaling technical teams, building with both customers and growth in mind, and a focus on AI-driven innovation, we’re confident Alec will make a significant impact at Blue Onion,” said CEO and co-founder, Lyndsey Bunting.

The appointments of Carper and Galit come at a time of strong momentum for Blue Onion, fueled by recent product advancements and key customer wins with companies such as Supergoop!, Dossier, Merit, and MaryRuth Organics. The company also just hosted a successful customer event in New York City, its first of many planned in-person gatherings, designed to foster a community of proactive accounting and finance professionals. The event underscored Blue Onion’s commitment to bringing finance teams together to share insights and tackle the ongoing challenges of reconciliation and reporting.
