Your TikTok payout will never match your sales. Blue Onion explains every dollar of the gap.

Connect TikTok Shop and Blue Onion reconciles every order to every settlement and every bank deposit automatically. Platform commissions, affiliate payouts, ad fees, and remitted sales tax are itemized and posted to NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Xero as journal entries your auditor will accept.

In one line

Blue Onion is the financial intelligence platform for e-commerce. It reads your TikTok Shop settlements through TikTok's official API, breaks the fee stack apart line by line, ties it back to the orders that generated it and the cash that actually landed, and gives your accounting team a close they can finish in days instead of weeks.

One deposit. Ten kinds of deduction.

TikTok Shop does not pay you what you sold. It pays a single net settlement after a layered stack of deductions, and it settles on its own clock, so orders from one period routinely get paid in another. Adjustments, chargebacks, and reserve balances arrive with no order attached at all.

Here is what actually happens between a sale and a bank deposit:

The accounting problem: if you book the deposit as revenue, your revenue is understated and every fee is invisible. If you book gross sales, your cash never ties. Doing it properly by hand means rebuilding this waterfall for every settlement, every month.

What Blue Onion does with your TikTok data

Normalizes the settlement report

TikTok's settlement files carry dozens of non-standard fee fields and inconsistent IDs. Blue Onion parses every one of them into a consistent set of payment types you can actually report on.

Matches order to settlement to bank

Every order is tied to the settlement that paid for it and to the deposit that hit your bank. Timing gaps between order date and payout date stop being a mystery and become a reconciling item you can see.

Posts ERP-ready journal entries

Reconciled TikTok activity becomes journal entries in NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or Xero, built on your own chart of accounts and your own JE templates. Not a generic mapping you have to unpick later.

Handles marketplace facilitator tax

A sales tax liability is recognized when the order is created and released when TikTok remits on your behalf. Prefer not to carry the liability at all? Map remitted tax straight to AR instead. Both treatments are supported.

Every fee type, categorized

This is the part that separates a real integration from a CSV import. Blue Onion maps TikTok's raw settlement fields into accounting categories your controller already recognizes, including the ones TikTok itself does not break out cleanly.

Where TikTok's reported total fee does not equal the sum of its own line items, Blue Onion captures the difference as an uncategorized fee rather than quietly absorbing it. The variance stays visible instead of becoming a plug.

Connecting takes about five minutes

Blue Onion connects through TikTok Shop's official Open API using OAuth. There is nothing to install on your storefront and no effect on your listings, orders, or customers.

  1. In Blue Onion, go to Settings → Integrations → Orders and select TikTok Shop.
  2. Click Connect. You are redirected to TikTok's own authorization page.
  3. Choose your seller region, North America or Asia.
  4. Sign in with your main TikTok Shop account. Sub-accounts cannot authorize third-party services, so this step needs an admin.
  5. Grant Blue Onion read access to your financial data. Orders, settlements, and payouts begin importing right away.

Blue Onion reads your data. It never posts, edits, or manages listings, inventory, or fulfillment in your TikTok Shop.

TikTok Shop is one channel. Blue Onion reconciles all of them.

Most brands that sell on TikTok Shop are also selling somewhere else, and the accounting only gets easier once every channel lands in the same subledger. Blue Onion connects across the stack:

TikTok Shop Shopify Amazon Stripe PayPal Adyen Affirm NetSuite QuickBooks Online Xero

Selling on TikTok Shop and Shopify at the same time?

Depending on how fulfillment and reporting are wired up, the same TikTok order can appear in Shopify too, which overstates revenue and quietly breaks your reconciliation. Blue Onion identifies and resolves these duplicates directly, so each sale is counted once and matched to the settlement that actually paid for it.

Is this a fit for your brand?

Straight answer, so you can decide before spending 30 minutes on a call.

Worth a demo if

  • TikTok Shop is a real revenue line, not a test store
  • You sell on more than one channel and reconcile them separately today
  • Your close takes more than a week, or a spreadsheet is holding it together
  • You run NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or Xero
  • You have an accountant, controller, or outsourced finance team who owns the close
  • An audit, a raise, or a diligence process is somewhere on the horizon

Probably too early if

  • TikTok Shop is your only channel and volume is still small
  • You need bookkeeping itself rather than reconciliation on top of it
  • You are a solo seller without a finance function
  • You want a free app that installs and runs unattended

Blue Onion is finance infrastructure for growing brands, priced accordingly. If you are in the second column, the TikTok Shop reconciliation guide is free and will still help.

Questions before you book

How does Blue Onion connect to TikTok Shop?

Through TikTok Shop's official Open API using OAuth. In Blue Onion you go to Settings → Integrations → Orders and select TikTok Shop, get redirected to TikTok's authorization page, choose your seller region, sign in with your main TikTok Shop account, and grant access to your financial data. Sub-accounts cannot authorize the connection, so an admin needs to do this step. Blue Onion reads order, settlement, and payout data only.

Why doesn't my TikTok Shop payout match my sales?

TikTok pays one net settlement after deducting platform commissions, affiliate and creator commissions, advertising fees, transaction and referral fees, fulfillment and return shipping, and remitted sales tax. On top of that, orders from one period are frequently settled in another, and adjustments, chargebacks, and reserves arrive with no order attached. The deposit is never the same number as your gross sales for the period, and it is not supposed to be. The work is proving why.

Do you support international TikTok Shops?

The standard connection supports USD TikTok Shops for North America sellers. UK and other international currency markets need separate authorization, which the Blue Onion team sets up directly rather than through the self-serve flow. Mention your markets on the call and the team will confirm coverage before you commit to anything.

How is remitted sales tax handled?

When a TikTok order is created, Blue Onion recognizes a sales tax liability. At settlement it removes the amount from accounts receivable and reduces the liability, because TikTok remitted the tax as marketplace facilitator. It is the same accrual pattern used for Amazon Seller and Meta.

Some teams would rather not carry that liability on the balance sheet at all, since TikTok is the remitting agent. In that case you can map remitted tax to accounts receivable instead. Blue Onion supports both treatments, so it follows your chart of accounts rather than the other way around.

Can you import my history from before I connect?

Partially, and this is worth knowing up front. TikTok's API does not reliably return a full history of orders and settlements from before the connection date. Blue Onion imports what the API returns, and the onboarding team works with you on any backfill you need for prior periods. If you have a close or an audit deadline in view, connecting sooner gives you more history to work with.

Which accounting systems do you post to?

NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, and Xero. Journal entries are generated from reconciled TikTok activity using your own chart of accounts and JE templates, so entries land in the accounts your team already uses.

Will this change anything in my TikTok Shop?

No. Blue Onion has read access to financial data only. It does not create, edit, or cancel orders, does not touch listings or inventory, and does not contact your customers. If you disconnect it, your TikTok Shop is unaffected.

What does it cost?

Pricing is quoted per brand based on order volume and which systems you connect, so there is no public price list. You will get a real number on the first call rather than after three meetings.

See it on your own TikTok settlements

Bring a recent settlement report to the call. Thirty minutes, no slideware, and you will see exactly where your payout gap comes from and what the close looks like once it is automated.
